Life on The Rock
Well we have been living on Kodiak Island for about 2 months now and we are learning a lot of new things. We have learned how to drive on ice and we have also learned the stresses of being on a 378' High Endurance Cutter. We love Alaska so far and we are getting used to the weather (rainy). We are already missing our families and so much is happening back home without us. I will be going home soon to visit, it is going to take 4 flights and 20 hours, each way... Matt comes home soon and I cannot wait for his ship to pull in. I got my Alaska teaching license and have already been putting thoughts into the schools about me. I even heard gossip that there are a few middle school math teachers retiring next year! I also have a new favorite quote that seems to always apply. "Together forever, never apart. Maybe in distance, but never at heart"
Pictures are from Fort Abercrombie hiking trails taken in November.

Petty Officer Third Class Foster
This week Matt graduated from Coast Guard A school and was promoted to Petty Officer Third Class. I flew out to Virginia to watch him graduate and pin on his new rank. We then drove 1300 miles back to Omaha. This week the movers are coming! By the end of the month we will be in Alaska starting the next chapter of our lives. We of course are going to go down to visit our families before we head out to the last frontier.

Getting Ready for the BIG Move!
I am in the process of getting my passport and Alaska teaching license! There is so much to do and so little time to do it in. The wives in Kodiak are already very welcoming, I can't wait to get to our new lives on Kodiak island. It's going to be a long drive but it will all be worth it in the end. We have our HHG scheduled and I am already getting the house set up to pack. This will be Matt and my THIRD state to live in together...
From the Beginning
Hello all, to start this blog off right let's recap the past few years..
Matt and I met at Canyon Lake Marina in Canyon Lake, Texas in the summer of 2010. Matt had just returned from Iraq and decided to buy a boat. Fate would have us meet at the best time in both of our lives. In June 2011 Matt transferred from the Army to the Coast Guard, it was a hard transition at first but we are now thankful that we made this decision. November 2011 Matt proposed at the top of the Sandia mountains in Albuquerque, NM. December 2011 Matt left for Coast Guard boot camp and January 2012 we were married. Our first station together as husband and wife was Omaha, Nebraska. We were there for a year and a half and now we have just received our orders to Kodiak, Alaska!
